http://bit.ly/onYYTQ New York, NY (PRWEB) August 18, 2011 JD Match, the first-ever online recruiting service designed to address the flawed law student hiring process, announced today that David E. Van Zandt has joined its newly formed Advisory Board that will help shape JD Match and build its visibility and reputation with firms, students, and schools, alike. Van Zandt is currently President of The New School in New York City and was most recently Dean at Northwestern University School of Law from 1995 to 2010.
?We are delighted to welcome David to our Advisory Board,? said Bruce MacEwen, President of JD Match. ?I?ve had the good fortune to know David for years and have always admired his clear-eyed and trenchant views on a wide range of issues facing the legal sector. His joining our Advisory Board is a big plus for us going forward.?
Van Zandt is a sociologist, attorney, and visionary in higher education with a record of distinguished academic leadership spanning three decades. Through continual analysis of the legal profession, Van Zandt led major efforts to expand academic offerings to prepare students for the demands of the global marketplace. This included the creation of the country?s only fully integrated three-year JD/MBA program and the nation?s most distinguished two-year accelerated JD program.
?JD Match strikes me as a very promising option to help address the current, rather chaotic process for law student recruiting,? said Van Zandt. ?The legal industry needs to continue to explore worthy innovations like JD Match in order to better meet the evolving demands of the legal sector.?
During the fall 2011 on-campus recruiting season, JD Match will run its matching algorithm several times. The software can pair 2L and 3L law students with law firm members based on the preferences of each. The services JD Match provides are a complement to on-campus interviewing. When law firms join as members, they can rank their preferred students and student members can rank their preferred law firms. Job offers are not made via JD Match.
